Hi friends, I have a problem with my 2 hard disk.
My system config:MOBO - Asus P5AB Super7, K62-350Mh , 128M SDRAM
OS - Win 98Onboard IDE controller - Primary , not used
Secondary Master - Acer CDRW
Secondary Slave - ST 8GSilicon Image Ultra ATA/133 IDE controller
- Primary Master - ST 80G
Primary Slave & Secondary - not used
I am using Partition Magic 8My original hard disk configuration is such that 80G disk is my Drive 1 with 4 Primary Partitions , the last one being an extended partition.
My bootmagic 8 program is installed in one of the 3 bootable primary partitions.
My other 8G disk is Drive 2 with 4 Primary Partitions likewise. Then the other day, I decided to install SuSE linux onto my 8G Drive 2.
I delete all partitions on Drive 2 and install SuSE linux using a bootable CD-rom.Then somehow my system recognise the 8G as Drive 1 and 80G as Drive 2
Everytime I reboot it says system disk not found. Obviously the system now is reading my 8G disk MBR (as Drive 1d)which could be corrupted or nothing there. So I fdisk 8G disk as a Dos parition and format it and reboot, still no luck, my 8G disk is still stuck as Drive 1
Now I have to physically remove 8G disk (ie power and data cable disconnected) in order to use my 80G disk.
What could be done? The system BIOS?
Any help will be much appreciated :)
STAN

Hello Stan,
From my experience, I would disconnect the 80G drive...Hook up the 8G drive as a master, fdisk it, partition it, as you wish, make all partitions active, format the partitions..I formated the primary partion as (format c:/s)The other two partitions I formated (format D:)and (format E:)...
Reinstall the two drives, with the 8G drive as the slave, and the 80G as the master...The PC will rename the slave drive from c,d,e, to d,e,f,....
Hope this helps....Joe
