I have a Dell Latitude LM. The original hard drive quit working. I purchased a Hitachi Model DK239A-65 6.1 GB and the bios will not recognize the drive. Tried to upgrade the bios which seemed to work but I didn't see any difference at all when I went into setup so I'm not sure if the bios upgrade took. ANy suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The bios number appears on the screen when you first boot. This is your indication. You may only have needed to change the hard drive identity in the setup screens. Bios upgrades are especially dangerous on laptops since a failed update will need a trip to the shop to have the eeprom replaced.
