I had to install a new hard drive on my Compaq 4112 desktop. The old hard drive had 1.6 gigs and the new one has 6.4 gigs. The quick restore Compaq sent me only works with the 1.6 gig hard drive. I would like to get some of the software, especially windows back on the hard drive. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this without having to buy some new software or borrow some? Your help is appreciated. Thanks, Stan

Ye. you can get a software from Maxtor.Maxblast or something like this. This program is the diskmanager prog and free of charge. You can mirror your HDD with this prog, but read the manual carefully.
Good luck

Did Compaq send you the newer hard drive? If you're not keeping the old hard drive, you may have a problem, at least on some Compaq systems. I don't know if this pertains to your system or not, but Compaq, with the hopes to save a few bucks, decided to put its bios on a hidden partition on the hard drive. Gee, who ever had that idea should be beaten severely. Anyway, you might want to research your system and see whether the bios is stored on the motherboard or the hard drive.
