hi there , im looking for the firmware for the maxtor 2F040L0 firmware is VAM51JJ0.. i cant find anything on net about this drive ,, drive is bad i think ,, fashes ares ac64 in bios .. mite be time for a new drive ,, any ideas ,,thanks ...

You can download Disk Diagnostic Tools for hard disks. These files (when run) will create a bootable, diagnostic floppy on one of your floppy disks. This will give a good indication of the disks health.

Forget about a firmware update, do as Dan Penny suggests and download a diagnostic.

thanks for the replys .. i have run the maxblast diag disk ,, disk is failing.. thanks dan penny and ham30.. looks like i will have to get a new drive,,, tommo
