without puting anything new on my hard drive it is slowly filling up, started of at 2GB 18 months ago now its up to 6GB.
Any body out there that can help??

What is the disk full of?
You may have a virus.

Check it out.
Happy Easter, bunnies...

Do you ever clean it up? Temporary files, windows diagnostic files, Internet files, etc. etc. all add up as time goes by if you don't regularly run a cleaner, Your registry will also expand if you don't clean it out, too. There are utilities that do both very efficiently--do you have any?

Win9X has a basic 'Cleanup' routine.
Start/Programs/Accesories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup.
But going from 2gb to 6gb in 18 months does seem kinda abnormal, if you really haven't added anything. I would also suggest checking for viruses 'and' Spyware.

WINDOWS CONTINUALLY ADDS UN-NESSASARY FILES THAT JUST KEEP GROWING. A PRORETY CHECK OF JUST YOUR \WINDOWS\TEMP FOLDER, WHERE ALL BUT 1 FILE CAN BE SAFELY DELETED, SHOWS HOW WINDOWS HOARDS JUNK FILES SLOWING DOWN YOUR PC'S PERFORMANCE.
YOU COULD CHOOSE TO MANUALLY DELETE THESE FILES, REMEMBERING THAT 1 OR 2 CAN'T BE DELETED IN WINDOWS. IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME, I WOULD MOVE THE FILES TO ANOTHER FOLDER, PREFERABLY ON ANOTHER DRIVE/ PARTITION FOR A FEW DAYS TO MAKE SURE THAT PC IS O.K..
BECLEAN, A FREEWARE PROGRAM THAT CAN BE CONFIGURED TO CLEAN THE FOLLOWING:
BeClean Features
Registry Cleaner, clean up registry entries from the files that no longer exist on the system
Internet Cleaner, clean up internet cache and related
History Cleaner, clean up common Windows applications recent file lists
Temporary Files Cleaner, clean up temporary files
Start Menu Cleaner, clean up Start Menu of broken links
Desktop Cleaner, clean up Desktop of broken links
Empty Recycle Bin, clean up all deleted files in the Recycle Bin
Custom Cleaner, clean up specified folders and registry keys
Disk Clean Wizard, clean up your computer drives

I believe that there are viruses that attempt to overwrite or fill hard drives but would assume they work faster than this.
I have a 13GB HDD and, to ensure I don't run out of space, I use Window Washer. Since I upgraded to v 4.8 on 21st February this year it claims to have reclaimed 2.9GB of disk space or nearly 1.5 GB per month of net garbage, Windows logs and temp files etc.
I have been installing and uninstalling games and other programs during this period but they are not included in Window Washers total.
Regular use of the free disk cleanup tools provided in Windows should keep this growth under control.
