can i have a hard drive and cd rom on the same data cable? the hard drive does not have a plastic jumper thing on it, so i figgured it was on master. i put the cd rom on slave, but it wont boot...

on all motherboards made since 1995 have 2 ide channels on them. Primary and Secondary. Your harddrive must be Primary Master. You should put your cdrom as Master on the Secondary IDE channel. Both your cdrom and harddrive would be on thier own cable
