My cousin told me he heard that a PC will operate quicker, and more effeciently if the Hard Disk Settings are set to "Network Server" instead of "Destop PC" in the File System settings. Is there any merit to this statement?

I find there is I always set mine to network server it also helps if you make your virtual memery to a fixed size by puting the same # in both boxes but dont make it to small I have mine set to 128mb and i have 64mb of physical mem the way i decide what to set it at is make shure you have as lest 196mb of total mem

There is merit in it - it causes the file cache to keep more directory (folder) entries in it, giving faster access to files. it's NOT a good idea if you're already short of RAM though.
