my hard disk wont boot up. i tried running scandisk and it detected some bad sectors and after a while it hangs. i used the hard disk as a slave hard disk and scanned the hard disk using norton disk doctot. that didnt help either. does anyone know of any software that can be used to repair bad sectors or bypass bad sectors??? thanks in advance.

Make sure you run scandisk or disk doctor in safe mode or at least shut down other running programs including screensaver.
I would think that Norton is best but if that doesn't help and you don't mind losing the software on your drive, download a low level format routine from the HD manufacturer's site. Sometimes that helps but it won't perform miracles.
