To format your hard drive you will need a startup disk. You can make one by going to control panel and add remove programs and clicking on the strtup disk tab. Reading what you have written as your system description it seems a little mixed up. When you format you will loose all of the data, including the operating system on your c:\ drive.

To format:

Install the startup disk you created in the A:\ drive

Boot from the floppy to the DOS prompt. It is a good idea to boot with CD rom support. The prompt looks like:

A:\>

or something similar.

At this prompt type:

format c:

You will get a warning that all data will be removed. Answer yes to this if that is what you want to do. After the format is complete you will have to reinstall your operating system. You will need to have the cd rom with the o/s on it. To install Windows change to the cd rom drive at the dos prompt by typing the letter name of the drive and then a colon. For example if your cd rom drive is d:\ then you would type:

d:

When you get to your cd rom drive type:

setup

Windows should start to install.

solution for formating hard drive
1-create a bootdisk for win 95/98/me
2-start computer up with the bootdisk in real DOS
3-type FORMAT C:
4-if you do this you will loose all data and have a clean hard disk

ZVT, Does your "program" work for proprietary CD drives as well? (ie; attached to a sound card etc.)
