My hard disk cannot boot , after I fdisk the
C partition and set it active, form a WIn 95 boot disk. It prompt me the message "Invalid system disk" . My hard disk is cuurently not resided by any OS.
What is the problem and how to solve it?Besides, how to detect the CD ROM drives (changes made in autoexec and config.sys), as I need to install WIN 95 from the CD.I am using MSCDEX.exe.

If you haven't already read this, it may be helpful.

Howdy, I think you lacked the step of typing format c: /s
As, Bruce said this will help ya out. Also, you will need either a boot disk with the CD-ROM drives, which I don't recommened, I do recommened ya go to www.windrivers.com and download the real modem CD-ROM drivers and install them after you format the hard drive and can boot from it. The reason to those who are wondering why I don't recommened using a boot disk with the CD-ROM drivers on it to install 95 is there are at times when 95 will restart and you will no longer be using the boot disk, and since you didn't load the CD-ROM drivers onto the hard drive the system can't load them and 95 will prompt you sometimes to insert the CD before it fully loads to install drivers or copy over files and quess what, the CD won't be present cause there are no CD drivers loaded cause you are no longer booting from the boot disk and problems can arise latter on down the road. To those who don't beleive me, try it. Not a major issue but a issue none the less, atleast for me.
