Subject: hacker?
Comment:

Ive had a serious problem for sometime now. I know that someone is hacking my computer and need some advice. What do I do, whom do I report it to? I tried to figure it out on my own and have realized it's just way over my head. The following drivers/file extentions were detected on my computer. I really don't use my computer much...only for research and email on the net. I have just recently reinstalled the factory config CD and yet...all of these devices plus lots and lots more on on my computer. My operating sysytem is WIN98, and I have DSL.
Can anyone help...PLEASE:)

Those are all drivers and virtual drivers.
And one executable file.
Have you considered a firewall on your PC?
I Use Zone Alarm PRO (the FREE version from www.zonelabs.com)and it is very good for protection. Also, you must have Anti Virus protection. Either Norton or McAffee.
There are FREE porgrams available also at:
www.grisoft.com
called AVG FREE
It's too late to save those files you lost, you have to reinstall them but you need to disinfect your machine if it's infected. Run a FREE scan at www.housecall.antivirus.com
and proceed from there.
Adding a firewall now, will prevent any program from calling OUT from your PC to the Web, in case they planted a trojan or something wormlike.
Firewalls have the ability to traceroute hackers and WHOIS and other ways to track down your hacker, however the chance is slim, sometimes in discovery. The best route is keeping your PC safe. You call also report it to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

They are supposed to be there as part of the installation.

If your DSL IP's perm, likewise someone can backdooring into your system. just yank the cable line out of your DSL modem when the MSDOS box runnings or hearing the hard drive clunkings.

DSL IP's randomized, very rarely they can find you on your puter from a PortScanner nothing get hacked.

I guess you should get a firewall to stop hacking/backdooring. :)

Lee,

Take EC's advice and get a firewall and anti-virus protection. Since you use DSL, your computer is always connected to the Internet when it is turned on.

You say you know someone is hacking your computer, what leads you to believe that? Is it just because you didn't recognize those file names, or is something else happening that leads you to believe you have been hacked?
