Hi I have just updated to explorer 6.0 and are no longer able to view pictures or graphics all i get is a blank box with a smaller box in the corner showing a square, circle and triangle. If I use the toggle images.exe button this removes the empty boxes and then puts them back again still empty. I have not downloaded any other programs or altered my PC in any way since upgrading I also used a disk from PC World Magazine to upgrade including all extra's ie outlook express included. I have Win98SE, a celeron 700, 2 drives one 8 gb and 3gb with at least half the drives empty I updated from IE 3.0 to IE 6.0. This was not a problem to the upgrade.

Kaz, Go to the Microsoft Virtual Machine link below my name(Homepage:) and download & install the Microsoft Virtual Machine. Be sure to select the proper download for your operating system. This should solve your problem.

Kaz, In Internet Explorer try Tools/Internet Options, under the "Advanced" tab scroll down to "Multimedia" and put a checkmark in front of "Show Pictures", click "Apply", click "OK". If that doesn't work try using the IE Repair Tool which should be available by Start/Settings/Control Panel, double click the Add/Remove Programs icon, scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer, click the "Add/Remove" button which should give you 3 options, chhose "Repair IE". If that doesn't solve the problem I don't know what else to tell you. I had heard something about a Quicktime patch for IE 6 and if you want to check it out go to the QUICKTIME link below my name(Homepage:). I have IE 5.01 SP1 and never upgraded to IE 6. Hope this helps.

Kaz,
This is tough. I use Win 98se. I updated from IE3 to IE6 as well and do not have trouble seeing GIF/JPG or other graphics. Other than loading Flash and Shockwave from Macromedia, basically, IE6 works "out of the box".

You're very good about posting back, I wonder if you saw my last post from ANNOYANCES.ORG:

Let me line up the facts again, correct anything I am wrong about.
Macromedia's test site works - you get pictures?
You updated to IE6 from IE3 and everything worked, at once upon a time?
You can see regular GIF/JPG on any and all pages, but it just gets stuck seeing the ones with the "box" you described?
Is this over several web sites - or just a few? It could be trouble at their end.

Although, I don't think it would cause this, you did the usual cleanup - cache/adware/spyware/history/cookies?

Try REPAIR? start >programs >accessories >system tools >SYSTEM INFORMATION pull
down TOOLS.

Unless someone else comes up with an answer, try to download again from MS. Beats me.

I stand by my last suggestion, download from Microsoft again.

And let everyone know if ANYTHING works.
