Subject: Got A HP PLatinum 2010, how do I find out the spec ?
Comment:

Hello. been given a HP Platinum 2010. It is a P2 350Mhz, 128 Mb Ram, 8.4 GB HDD. I have nothing installed etc. How do I find out what modem or soundcard I have etc so I can hopefully download the correct drivers off the internet and install them ??

Can anyone assist or give me some ideas please.

Thanks

Scott

You can open it up or install windows and see what it thinks you have. It will get most things working. I would think that it will get most if not all HP hardware figured out correctly.

Also if you open the case and and locate the modem, you should be able to find an FCC number. Jot down the number and go to http://www.windrivers.com and go to search for drivers. There will then be a facility to let you search for an FCC number. This will then give you a link to the website where the drivers can be found.

As for the sound card. The same thing may apply except many computers use onboard soundchips. If this is the case, see if you can find it out from the HP website.

HP dont make a "Platinum" system, you must have a "Pavilion" system or you have a Packard Bell system.
Check it out and mail me
