Hi and Good day. I used to record sound using the Win98 preinstalled sound recorder but I noticed
that it can only record up to 60 sec. (1 min.). That's why I have to watch over as it records.

What I want is a recorder which could record up to an hour and could convert the file into a
compressed one, like MP3. Please tell me if you know of this kind of a program or something like
this. Thank you very much for any info.

Another option is to do the following with the sound recorder that comes with Windows:

1. Record blank for a full minute with Sound Recorder. Save it as a .wav file.
2. Record a second blank .wav file. At the end of the recording, go to edit, insert file and insert the first .wav file you recorded. Then when you save it, you have a two minute file or template.
3. Keep repeating the process until you have a sixty minute file or template.
4. Use the sixty minute template everytime to record something new.
5. For shorter recordings, you can go to Edit and delete after current position.

It's a convoluted way of doing it, but once you have the one hour template made, the rest is easy.

I liked the work-around for the Windows recorder. Always something new to learn.

In case anyone finds this post in Google or whatever.

Although I use a better recorder, just for the heck of it I tried monchongs idea and it worked fine.

It doesn't take long to make the template because you can save the files as you go (60s.wav 120s.wave 240s.wav 480s.wav and so on) then insert the bigger files, for as long as your memory can take it.

You just open 3600s.wav to use it. It's over 77M but if you don't use it much it can be zipped down to less than 0.5M
