Can't seem to get into BIOS. I have tried F2 , control, alt, esc. Do you just turn off the computer and tap keys or do you have to wait for a particular screen to start tapping? Can you get in using a command in dos? thanks for any assistance.

Have you tried unplugging the hard drive then booting?F2 is most likely for entering bios setup screen.

Dell's are primarily either F1, F2, or the Delete key. Your screen should actually indicate which key to press. Boot the computer and watch the screen. If it boots too quickly, the reboot again, and try F1, F2, or Delete.
You can't access the BIOS though DOS.
