Comment:

Since I installed Microsoft Money (and Works, which was compulsory) I always get the MSN Messenger Service icon in the tray when OE is running.

MSN is not in the startup items in MSConfig.

How do I get rid of MSN?

Not sure what you mean, but I believe Messenger service doesn't exist in Win-98, only in Win2k and XP. Also it has no icon in the Sys Tray.
MNS Messenger can normally be removed from Add Remove Programs in Control Panel (that is where you remove programs). Or set under options not to start always.
You can also mean Windows Messenger, which can be set as MSN Messenger not to start always.

Go into msconfig and look for two entries
msnmsgr
msmsgs
and uncheck them both and click the Apply Tab and reboot the icon should be gone.

Checked again: No MSM in msconfig.

There is an icon in the Tray.

But thanks: I found it in Add-Delete [why didn't I look there before :-( ] and deleted it. Guess it will be OK now.
