I have a creative geforce pro and a sb live value ... the problem is that they are both on the same IRQ which may be cause the for my system to hang many times if i play 3d games... but just can't seem to change the irq settings at all.. sigh.. someone pls help me.

Both the video and sound card are on irq 11.
i have irq 9 free and want to change the sound card's irq to 9.

Heres what i tried:
1. I went into device manager to change the sound card's irq manually but it tells me it cannot be modified. Same with the video card.

2. Went into safe mode, use device manager to change irq manually again. This time it allows me but once the computer restarts, they are both back to irq 11.

3. Went into the system bios, turned PnP OS off and irq settings to Manual. Rebooted, went through the above 1 and 2 but still ..sigh.

4. Disabled irq steering under PCI bus in device manager. Even worst, can't even change irqs in safe mode... so i had to turn it back on.

5. Went to the bios again and reserved irq11.
hoping the cards will find their own irq.. and sigh.. they did change but was both on irq 10 now...

6. Went back to the orignal and type this plea for help :(

I think thats all i tried... i'm at wit ends... although i can play but the contant hangings are driving me nuts. Does anyone know what i can do to resolve this problem?
:(

Since the GeoForce Pro is an AGP card, the only way I found to solve the same problem I had was to move the Sound card to a different PCI slot. I don't use the first slot currently on my MB because I think that it was the one that was shared with the AGP slot. Simply move your PCI cards around in the machine preferably so that the first one is free. IF you don't have a free slot then move one of the lesser used cards (like a network card or something) to the first PCI slot and see if that helps.

Later,

Rick
