I have replaced my hard drive and am trying to re-install win95, Setup bails out with either "unable to load GDI.exe" or "unable to load USER.exe" - I have tried both CD rom and from floppy but get the same message so it has to be my PC - Help gratefully received (-:

Derrick.

I have the same problem. I had an Error on drive c.But scandisk fixed it. when i started windows in safe mode it said ERROR IN LOADING GDI.exe.Reinstall windows.
How would i do this i have tried rebooting but that doesn't work. This is the second time this has happened
What could have caused my hardrive to crash.could it have something to do with the electricity maybe a power surge.

extract win98_45.cab *.fon /L c:\windows\fonts

I had the same problem after I fixed the 8514.sys loading error. When I downloaded the 8514 file (searched for the file on msn) there was a vgafix.fon file also so I tried it and It fixed everything.
