will the computer boot in safe mode
if it will then click run then type msconfig select startup de-select everything except explorer and systray then try to boot properly if it now boots then enter msconfig again and re-select everything you need one thing at a time (especially your firewall and virus scanner)
if not then select boot to c-prompt
type sfc click enter
try to boot again when its done
if it still won't boot type scanreg /restore (at the c-prompt)
select a date that the boot did work click ok
if it still won't work type scanreg /restore click ok
