I am using windows 98 as an operating system. It is a 256 MB RAM P IV, with 80 GB HDD PC. By mistake I changed the display settings which are not compatible with that of my monitor. Suddenly the message came ' Power Management .... frequency is out of range..' and the countdown clock started counting 18 seconds and switching off the monitor; again if I shut down and switch on the monitor the same message appears and the monitor goes off after 18 seconds. Restart/all F8 options did not solve the problem. How can I get rid of this problem?

Go into safemode and set your display to adapter default. The next time you reboot normally you won't get that message.

The settings you changed are in windows, this should not effect dos. Boot into dos and run scanreg /restore and choose a date before you changed the settings. This should put the correct settings back into the registry.
