My computer keeps on freezing completely. Ctr. Alt. Del does nothing and the mouse cursor won't move. As well, my computer will reboot itself randomly. Other times, it will freeze and then reboot. It happens most commonly while on the internet. Please help. I even took it in to a repair place and they couldn't fix it!

Maybe it'll help if you post your system specs and what program you were running at the time...

It could be your CPU is running too hot...

Try a different repair shop. or fdisk, format, and install your o/s, and if it still has same problem then it is hard ware problem.

If you've got a v550 (TNT) then make sure it is NOT sharing its IRQ with anything else (except a PCI IRQ holder).

This is a followup to my original massage.

Specs are

PII 266 mHZ
64mb RAM
3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 AGP
Win 98
4 GB HD
44X CD-Rom

The problem occurs when using any program, just so long as it involves the internet. I have a DSL connection using an ethernet card. It will happen with IE, ICQ, Multiplayer games, etc. The problem isn't always there, it might not happen for a couple weeks, then it will happen multiple times a day for a long period of days. I use the computer the same amount everyday, and the fan works fine, so i don't think it is a heat thing. All i know is that the whole problem started after the computer crashed one time. I reinstalled windows to get it working again. Any help would be appreciated.

it seems that a program is using too much memory, check your prg's that are always on, like, on your task bar, at the right, besides the clock, disable all the applications, and then work, if your pc works fine, then you have a prob with your kernell it only can fixed when you choose not to enable alll of this applications

or check your antivirus is working fine if not reinstall it
