freezing with via'ac 97

I have a Via ac'97 enhanced audio controller. When I want to see the Advanced properties of the device "via sound system play (E800)" or "via sound system record (E800)", My computer show a fatal exception error message.
With Macromedia shockwave and Windows Media player 7.1, the fatal exception message appears too, so I am pretty sure it's the same problem.
