I also tried to install Netscape 7 last release without success on Win 98 and went back to IE6 from an ISP install CD after re-installing Windows. These seem more concerned with the stability of the ISP service and give you a good browser with no hidden bugs.I had the same problems with the numerous updates from Windows update that end up in messages like re-install Windows.I use a firewall(Zone Alarm free) and the anti-virus(AntiVir Version 6 free from H+BEDV) to check files. No more updates for awhile..Good luck.

Why do you use Netscape when you can get the same software without the AOL addons in Mozilla ?
Netscape is based on the Mozilla code.
Go to http://www.mozilla.org/ for mozilla.

As for the freezing when you do installs, perhaps you need to turn off your virus scanner during the install ?

Petit Jean, I heartily agree with you. If you have a good Anti-virus and firewall, you don't need no steenking updates. However don't open email attachments. :-)
