Freezing computer

I was just able to get on my computer fine, then I shut it off, now when I go back on the first windows loading screen that comes up FREEZES right away.

Did you add any new hardware lately (ex.Video Card, Sound card,modem ect) Because i had a similar problem not to long ago, i had attempted to put in a video card and the new card and the old one had were conflicting, once i removed the new one (Other one was built in) everything was fine....

Your first defense is always to boot to safe mode( to get to safe mode hold down the ctl key while it boots), run scandisk with "fix errors" checked, run defrag, then reboot.
