FREEZING ALL OF A SUDDEN

WELL OUT of the blue my computer is freezing solid..neverrr had this problem before..I changed the cmos battery because it wouldn't even come on...but it's still acting wierd..could it be ram problems?

W/o recent major apps or device installs, the main suspects...in order.
1. overheating (check cpu fan and refresh thermal goo in there)
2. loose or damaged ram.

Sometimes you just need to backup your data, and do a format. My computer always use to freeze, now it doesn't at all(even with first edition of 98). All just because I re-installed Windows. A lot of times it's due to installing and removing programs a lot. That's what I've found with Windows anyways.
