Freezes up

I'm writing for a friend. He has Win. '95 when it boots up he gets a error: 3F8H?com address error. Windows opens but freezes up. Can anyone help?

There's a resource conflict (I/O range), check the device manager under ports, two things are trying to use one address. Try assigning a differnt address to the one that's conflicting, but write the current settings down first. Without knowing anything on his system, that's all I can suggest.

Thats the Io address for com1. could be an internal modem on com1 and the serial mouse is trying to use it. Or try disabling the ext com1/serialA port in BIOS setup.
