All of a sudden I'm getting allot of freeze ups while surfing the net.I'm on Rogers cable high-speed.

I run (Ad-aware-6) every day, along with (window-washer-pro) & (Norton anti-virus) always on, But still my browser freezes right up in the middle of something.?
It freezes so bad that I have to do a re-start every time.?
any help would be great, thanks

Is your browser up-to-date? Is your system clock set to the correct date and time? Tried emptying your cache? Have you tried a repair on IE? Run system file checker? Tried a winsock fix? (AdAware can corrupt this; personally I find these frantic attempts to remove so-called 'spyware' laughable; just periodically check your sys config utility (MSCONFIG)to ensure no nasties are loading on boot) Are you connected via a hub? This can and does result in packet collisions which may cause your browser to crash.. Check your version of the file MSHTML.DLL - if you're using I.E.6 it should be 6.00.2800.1400

No I have not tried all of the above but I have tried so far, IE repair, emptying the cache,temp-files,defrag,scandisk & ran sys. info. I'm coneccted threw a 4 port link sys.router but have been for 2 years without this kinda thing happening. Yes,I do have the file version 6.00.2800.1400.
When you say " periodically check your sys config utility (MSCONFIG)to ensure no nasties are loading on boot)", what exactly should I be looking for.?
& how would I do a winsock fix?
Thanks for your suggestions & help,
Maxx

Another question is how much free space is there on your hard drive and when is the last time you defragmented it?

I defrag every week, do it myself. & the hard drive is a 15 gig., with at least 10 of that free. So you see, there's not alot on it.

When I ran file checker, it found that the file ( setupx.dll )maybe corrupt. Would this file be causing the freeze ups I'm experiancing.?
Also when ran Find files, it told me that the above file was located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM When I tried to locate it, I could not find it in my system files. Yes, I have my display set on "show all files".
Now, I donot have a working CD-romm on that PC at the moment, can I copy the file from CD or my PC., put it onto floppy & just drop into her system files.?
Other then this one file, I can't seem to find anything else wrong with her PC. & it only happens while online. Everything works just fine, no freeze ups when we're not on the net.
Thanks for your help,
Maxx...
