I just added a HP Deskjet 970cse printer. Installed the software for the printer. Now whenever I restart, I always get 'Found New Hardware', so I choose to select from the list, find HP on the left side, but my model Deskjet 970cse is not in the list on the right. The closest thing is Deskjet 870cse.I don't know why Deskjet 970cse doesn't show up . Afterall, I did install the software and the printer works fine. I don't want to have to cancel each time I restart. Any help appreciated.

No, turning the printer on after the computer loaded doesn't help. I've tried on and off. The message comes up either way.

Sounds like a IRQ conflict maybe. Are you sure it's "finding" a printer, and not some other periphrial? I'd look into your device settings and try to figure out what the OS says it's finding that is new. Might not be a printer at all. LIFO also...uninstall the printer and reboot, see if that stops the message. Then reinstall. Chances are there's a conflict being created.

I have an HP833C (USB) which did the same thing as your printer. According to my documentation, HP says to answer no to the do you want windows to install the new hardware. After windows comes up, reinstall your software from the HP distribution media. Prior to the fresh install, make sure you uninstall any software you may have previously installed for the printer. Also, delete the printer from control panel/system/devices if it is showing up.
