Comment: There 's been an identical post (back on October 2003) but as I could read it didn't solve the problem. I am trying to format a Toshiba hard disk and nothing seems to work. It seems that there isn't a Toshiba zero-fill and diagnostic utility and I don't know what to do. Help!!! Thanks in advance

Reply: (edit)As has been mentioned, if all you're looking to do is format the drive then you don't need a zero-fill utility. However if you still want to zero it then you might download Toshiba's version of diskmanager. Most of the diskmanager utilities include a zero fill. Older drives often came with diskmanager but now most manufacturers use their own installation software. I think a person can buy diskmanager but the free versions that came with drives are no longer available. If a version of diskmanger was made for a partiticular drive manufacturer then it would only work with those drives. So Toshiba's version will only work on Toshiba drives. Also diskmanager would be updated as newer drives came along. This looks like an older version and may not be compatible if you have a large drive. But you can give it a try.
