If you formatted the C drive, you removed windows. You need to boot from a bootable floppy which has the cdrom support. Then you can install windows from the cdrom.

When you formatted the hard drive it sounds like you didn't use the /s option to transfer the system files. Start up with your boot disk and then type SYS C: to transfer the system. If you didn't copy sys.com onto the boot disk, then format again only this time use this instruction: at C:> format c: /s This will transfer the system when it finishes the format.

Hi:if he can boot from a floppy disk
than get a boot disk
and boot with it
and at the a:\> sys c: (Enter)
if that doesn,t work
your friend
may have a boot sector virus
or there is an antivirus program running
somewhere .
HTH.

If you format the drive and then intend to install Windows, you do NOT need the /s or the Sys c:\ commands (although it won't hurt anything).
Re-read Dude's reply. Installing Windows automatically installs the system (/s) files.
