In reference to partitioning and formatting the hard drive.
Although it can be done using fdisk from a dos bootable floppy, I would recommend Partition magic 4 or 5.
This makes the process simple and is very self explanatory.
It also includes wizards that do the job for you.
Be very careful what you do though and make absolutely sure that you have a bootable floppy disk in case everything fails.
This will at least allow you to boot your computer again.
You can create a bootable floppy disk from the add/remove icon in control panel.
Hope this is of some help

Create a start up disk
Make sure you have a dos cdrom driver or that your cd is bootable (Through cmos setting).
format your hard disk thus:
format c: /s
if your disk has just been partitioned you will have to do format c: /s/u.
Then you install your cdrom driver from the prompt and you also need mscdex.exe whitch does not always come with the cddriver.
restart, bang in your Windows cd and type:
d:\setup

RESTART IN MS DOS AT C:\>windows type
cd c:\ enter to get c:\> then type
format c: enter
IE: C:\>format c: enter

(hope you got ALL you're drivers first, if not get them now BEFORE you format)
