I had just formatted my hard drive and when i tried to reinstall windows 98 i realized that i had lost my product key. Is there anyway i can get my product key back since i had format my hard drive?

You can not get it from the drive because it was formatted.

I guess the key is not on the CD case or label, right?

Is it OEM / retail ?

If its OEM, it's normally on a sticker on your computer's casing, otherwise its on the back/inside of the CD-ROM case.

Other than that, there isn't a way to get it back.
