format c: (or format c: /s) via a '98 bootdisk (i.e. from the a: prompt).

The former merely formats it, the latter also makes it bootable to a c: prompt (i.e. transfers the basic '9x/dos 'boot' file across).

Anything you want to retain on this drive/partition - back it up first...!

Yea. Like your drivers.

That would be a good one to back up.

Or at least identify your hardware so you'll know what you have.

And make sure you have the 98 product code key too.

If you don't magical jellybean can find it for you.

Google a search for it.
