OS: win98se
CPU/Ram: 1000mhz/384

When I format my hard(fat 32)which is maxtor 40gb. Its stops sometimes, @ 66%. but when I reinstall win98se. All the other probrams are there. (the installed ones. like ms messanger and all) what is this.
Anybody help me

why would you install a OS when format doesn't finish? Format not finishing indicates a serious problem usually with the drive. Download the WD drive utilites and test/wipe the drive with them. Might be rma time.

Did you do a complete F-Disk or just a reformat ... if there is some kind of protection set up by a security software and it won't let a reformat take place and you can't get 100% formated then I would say your system didn't reformat and therefore anything that was causing you grief before ( your old install of windows ) is still there .

Sometimes I can do 100% format. But not all the time. That is the problem.
