Floppy disk(s) fail (40)

Comment:
I recently added a new parallel interface for my printer (this PC didn't have one when I bought it), now I get "floppy disk(s) fail (40)" when it first boots up. I can get past this message by hitting F1, but Windows 95 doesn't acknowledge my A or B floppy drives. Any suggestions would be appreciated... thanks!

Double check the cables on your floppy drive. Maybe something came loose when you installed the parallel interface card. Also, check your CMOS setup and make sure that it lists your floppy drive.
Howdy, Rob offers good advice, the only thing I want to add is that the floppy drive could have also just died, would be weird but could happen. So check your cables and if everything is fine there is a good chance the floppy has gone night night.
