I need to update the BIOS on my PC-Chips M598lmr mb. I have the BIOS I want to use, but I have not been able to learn what flash utility to use. At the PC-Chips website they offer five utilities for AMI BIOS (mine is v. 1.20). How do I know which one is right? all4one

When in doubt, ask the folks at PC-Chips...no one should know better than them. The only thing I did find useful at their site was this: There are two kinds of BIOS Flash program as below. AWDfl628.exe: a specified BIOS flash program for AWARD BIOS. AMIfl817.exe :a specified BIOS flash program for AMI BIOS. If your mainboard use AMI BIOS will be required the BIOS flash program of AMIfl807.exe. Otherwise, you need AWDfl628.exe flash program. You can find out the source from BIOS area of our web site easily.

Of course, read up on what the flash will actually update. If it does not update anything that you are interested in then don't use it. If you have a particular reason for wanting to then make sure that it performs that update. Otherwise, don't use it.
