Ada, go to the DOS prompt and type "ping microsoft.com"!! The name will resolve into the IP address!!

Also, if you have WinNT or Win98 (i think) type "nslookup microsoft.com" as well!!

HEY!! Umm.. you could also write the postmaster@domain.com and ask him. He'll scoff at you but perhaps he will give you the IP address.

AW SCREW IT!! I use a tool that IMHO every person in the world should use. It is called NEOTRACE. Go to http://www.neoworx.com and download a shareware version of this "GIFT FROM GOD HIMSELF" and be happy. He has made me happy! This application will trace through the entire network and tell you TONS and friggen TONS of information on each hop! It's great to trace back spam as well.

Speaking of traceing back SPAM! Check out http://www.samspade.org/ssw and download SAMSPADE for your WIndows box.

I recieved spam yesterday, I used finger on SAMSPADE to find that the MORONIC spamming sysadmin on a home linux box who was sitting there logged in as user "gopher." When I telnetted to the box and logged on as "gopher".. to my chagrin, no password needed. My friends, a trip to the /etc/group and passwd file, a session with Jon the Ripper, and the rest.. (cough cough) is history.

well it probably of little use to u now but i only just found it..All I could to you tell you the IP number of the website www.hvc.nl was that it will not always be on the same computer. But between: 193.67.237.0 - 193.67.237.255
netname: NLNETNIJM
descr: NLnet Services Nijmegen
country: NL
The Hostmaster left a note for nosey's like me.saying "PLEASE use whois.domain-registry.nl or whois.nic.nl to access the
whois server of the NL TLD. Similarly use www.domain-registry.nl
or www.nic.nl for the web server
.
So hope that helped
