This problem is so silly I am almost afraid to bring it up. Recently, I typed a letter on my machine printed an envelope, and one copy of the letter, and then deleted the document from my hard drive. My problem is that after I mailed the letter I realized that I might have put the wrong address on the envelope. I undeleted the document but it did not have anything regarding the address on envelope, only the paragraphs that made up the letter. My question is, is there any temp file or something along that line where I can look and see where I addressed the letter? The deal is I mailed my resume to a company, and I am afraid I would look pretty silly if I were to mail it twice. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Also, I have My Documents directory on the D:\ drive away from my applications and swap file.

Eric,
Depending on how long it took to type up the address, you may have a backup in your "c:\windows\temp" file that would be created during a timed backup. If done in Word, you'll see the MS Word icon and a numbered file name. In "my computer" or explorer start checking the files by date and time under "properties". Once you find a file that seems about the right size (less than 10KB for an address I would think) and about the right time of saving, change the file extension to "doc" instead of "tmp". Now open the file in Word and see what it is. Hopefully you'll find out what you need.

Eric, Windows(95 for me) auotmatically places items in the temp folder, like when opening an attachment from email(I believe it is where the idea behind caching got it's start). You will not likely have a copy there unless you sent it to yourself as an attachment and then opened it. I think Win 2K does make copies but am not certain of this. As for mailing the resume I certainly hope you mean email and not snail mail if you really want to be considered. Only if the company doesn't have email or suggests mailing to a P.O. box should resumes be snailed....just a suggestion.

A big thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I did find a file in my temp directory, but it also did not contain the address on envelope. Not too worry, I found the piece of paper that I copied the address from, and I remember that it the same as what I typed into Word. (They did not have an e-mail address in this case) Don't you hate it when you scare yourself like that.
