Comment:
I have a few files that have really long file names (they were made from a newsgroup software that downloaded the article and named it using its subject which was really long), now i've tried to delete them but it won't let me, it says, "Cannot delete file: The filename you specefied is invalid or too long..." , I've also tried renaming it, but i get "Cannot rename file:...." I'm not sure how to get rid of these files....any help would ne appreciated...thanks

Hi,
Open a DOS prompt, cd to the directory where the files are and the DEL or REN them from there.

I tried to post this earlier, so if this ends up being a double post, Sorry!
Right click the file go to properties to get the Dos name (something~1), Remember the full directory (by Dos names) it is in. Open a Dos prompt or Reboot to Dos, type in with the actual directory & filename of course.
del c:\windows\downloads\something~1/p
Hit Enter
The /p is a prompt to ask before delete.
Hit Y or N
