Hello,

system....
P2 266
128 megs ram
16 megs video memory
windows 98
16 maxtor HD
7 gig ?? HD

I have the 16 gig HD set up into 8 logical drives of 1.78 Gig each. (fat16)

On half of the drives I can't put more than 750 megs of data. Windows explorer says I have 1.78 on each drive but whenever I copy more than 725-750 megs of data I get the following error message.

"Cannot copy : The directory or file cannot be created."

I have not changed anything on my system and it has run fine for a few years. Also, I have run scandisk, norton antivirus and I even formatted one of the logical drives but nothing is helping.

What is this problem?

Thanks,
John

I solved it!

I was putting too many files on the root drive. Once I created some directories everything worked fine.

thanks anyways.
