My computer locked up and I tried to reboot. I got a file allocation table bad C drive error message. When tryng to use the recovery cd, I got a bad memory image of FAT detected message. When this happened before, I was told a way to still start the recovery cd but I dn't reember what it was. I think I started with F1 button I'm not sure. Help.

That's a hard drive error - you likely should boot to DOS and use Scandisk. Possibly it's repairable - if not, installation probably won't go well

I think you can press "Del" button and enter BIOS to set starting from recovery cd.

Try running SCANDISK first because the error MAY be fixable and because the CD will NOT let you install anything on a bad drive. Plus, let's not jump the gun and do a reinstall that will probably fail until we are sure it's not fixable.

Faris,

Jeeze - I wish I'd thought of suggesting Scandisk

... wait a minute - I think I did!
