Hi There,

I scanned my computer with AVG and it showed cross on MBR & Boot Sector. It detected a virus & it may be possible that it may have corrupted boot sector or MBR. Now if I use FDisk /MBR it will rewrite MBR, however I am not sure whether I will loose all the data on the drive.
2. I want clips or videos which will explain working of computer and computer troubleshooting. Can anyone tell me from where I can download such clips or videos.

Thanks and waiting for some kind replies.

Regards,

Amit

I would have thought that finding clips and videos about computer trouble shooting generally is far too broad.

If you google you should find plenty of general info on computer troubleshooting. You will then have to search under the specific aspects for more detailed information.

There is no quick answer because, as with many other things, knowledge has to be absorbed by training and experience. Reasonable progress is possible by experience alone but this requires dedication, time, and a lot of searching for information and answers.

If you are using drive overlay software or have a non standard MBR due to a boot manager, the command may cause problems, but in most cases it's quite innocuous

As far as video clips - I don't think a short movie of someone thinking would be too useful - - on the other hand this guy has made his fortune by providing video help

Thanks for all your help. I tried searching under google but did not find what I was looking for. I remember in one of the cd editions of magazine called pcquest, i think, they gave small clips of working of computer hardware. I am trying to search for small clips or videos which would explain working of different components of computer or troubleshooting hardware issues in computer. Any help is highly appreciated.

Amit

Well, now you've said hardware that narrows it down a good bit. I doubt it makes too much odds to the drift of what has been posted though.

It also depends how deep you want to go. It can range from anunderstanding of electronics to a general recognition of components and their function with an ability to test, access and replace components and boards.

There are a lot of hardware forums around (there's one here for starters). These will help somewhat, as will attempting to build your own machine.

A broad software knowledge is still necessary of-course.

Well, a working knowledge of hardware is hardly brain surgery - if you can't pick it up from books, online articles and hands-on experience... maybe it's not for you(?)

If all you are interested in is LEARNING then why do you need to download the clips. The people that created them obviously don't want you to do that.

I'd like to learn C++ without having to open up a book, but that's not possible either. Chances of you finding a video on the subject done in a manner that you would like it done, is pretty much zilch and a total waste of our time looking for. That means you look for it.

What you did find are Flash Player Movies (flv extension), good luck capturing them as I don't know how to.
