I have a 850MB Conner HD with no format and/or partition. The BIOS, Windows and Norton Utilities recognizes only as a Physical Drive, and I searched the entire disk for a segment of the partition but with no success. I dont want to recover anything, I only want to be able to use the HD! So I used FDISK and there, create I select create a primary DOS partition. But when the Checking Drive Integrity process starts, it advances to 1 or 2% and returns to zero again! Why is this? Is there any other application that I could try to format my disk? Or what the heck is going on?
thanx

Try this Partitioning program:

http://www.firmware.com/support/atapro/
ZAPART Utility:
This DOS utility can be used to erase the boot sector on a hard drive.
This can be useful for removing drive overlay programs such as
Disk Manager or EZ-Drive or for removing otherwise "confused"
partitions that FDISK will not remove. This is not a ZIP file, the
EXE file is ready to run. It would be recommended to copy the program
onto a boot disk and boot from that disk before running the program.
Typing ZAPART will give usage info. ZAPART 80 will erase boot sector
on first physical drive, ZAPART 81 will erase boot sector on second
physical drive, etc. For maximum safety, you may wish to disconnect
other drives. After using ZAPART, FDISK should report "No partitions
defined."
