I have a really wacko HD and am needing to just wipe it clean and start over.
I neeed to delete the partition via FDISK. However, the VOLUME LABEL is the ol' jibberish (looks like dingbats font or something)
In order to delete the partition, you have to type in the Volume Name...but there are no keystrokes for jibberish in dos.
SO.....Does anyone know how to "Force-Delete" a partition....or something similar?
Change the Volume name via the "My Computer" window.
Open "My Computer" and then right click on the C:\ Then click on "Properties"
Do you see where it says "Label" - Change it or errase it, then try the FDISK job.

The disk is too scrambled to boot or format. It does not have Windows loaded on it nor is not able to have it done in it's current state.
It also cannot be accessed as a slave drive...the only way to get to the partition data is via a boot floppy disk which includes the fdisk untility

Use norton's diskedit program from DOS prompt and fill the whole hard drive (or partition) by zero's (atleast first few sectors-upto 100 sectors-ie until u clear the DBR of your partition). Definitely this will solve ur problem.
