Did you partition the drive through FDISK first? That is how it becomes FAT16/FAT32.

You run Fdisk and Format from a boot floppy, NOT from your hard disk. If you don't have one, get one. Click below:

Boot Disk

If you want Fat32, run Fdisk and answer 'Y' to 'Enable Large Disk Suport?'.

If you are having problems go to www.pchelplive.com you will have to sign up for account with them (i'ts free) then once you have done that click on download and click on EZ Install Boot Disk 1 It's right under diagnostics utilities 5 then on the next page click the click here to download it has a little yellow star with red trim next to it. make sure you read the instructions below it first for proper procedure This disk will do everything for you. you won't believe how easy it is with this disk.

The first problem you have to sort out, is the NO FIXED DISK.
Go into the BIOS setup as your computer is booting, and make sure the hard drive is correctly detected.
Use the HDD Auto Detection utility in the BIOS.
Then set all Primary and Secondary, Masters and Slaves to AUTO

When this is all done, you are ready to run FDISK from a boot floppy - choose yes to large disk support.
Choose option 3 to delete all partitions. Then choose option 1 to create a primary DOS partition.
ESC to leave FDISK, and reboot with floppy still in drive
Run FORMAT C:
When formatting is finished, run SETUP from your cdrom.
