No help from tech support and Going nuts... Complete errors read:
Fatel Exception OE has Occurred at 0028: C00191E3 in VXD IFSMGR (01) +000015CF
and/or
Fatel Exception OE has occurred at 0028: C1209CC in VXD VNBT (01) +00006990
and of course the rest of the message....Pressing any key just seems to lock the system up!!! So far these errors occur during some level of internet activity...
the first error above varies but usually during browser activities ( Netscape Communicator 4.5 ) and the second error listed above occurs most during Internet Connection.... Fresh installation has been done... Help!! Ideas / Suggestions?????

Hi Brent:
I had the exact same problem before. I would get the message only when on the internet and it would lock the system up. It ended up to be a bad RAM chip. Once replaced I never had the problem again.
Hope this helps.

Wow, finally someone with the same problem we're having on four systems. The key commonality is Netscape Communicator 4.5. A techie suggested reinstalling, but it made the problem occur even more on one system.
It's odd that it's occurring on so many systems though, which makes me wonder if the RAM could be responsible in all cases. I did find this page at Netscape that helps troubleshoot other types of windows system errors. Here it is: http:help.netscape.com/kb/client/970702-6.htmI haven't tried any suggestions yet, but plan to and will post a follow-up.

Hello all.... Thanks for the info so far. I am receiving a similar error message to the above:
OE at 0028:C10C71A5 in VxD VNBT (01) + ..... in VxD VTDI (01) etc....
I've followed the above information and installed new RAM in the PC that I receive the error on, however, I now have a laptop with the same error??? Coincidence??? Anyone aware of any virus (Nuke or otherwise) that could cause this?
I have a support call into Microsoft and Compaq currently, will post anything they suggest as well....

IFSMGR.vxd is located @
C:\windows\system\vmm32 and is 182kb for the version I have 4.00.1111
BELOW ARE THE BEST TIPS I FOUND:SORRY FOR MESSED UP FORMATTING>>>
IFSMGR go to:
http://marketwizz.net/windows95/win95a/index.htmlThere is a fix for these related errors, It seems that the
BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) Calling to IFSMGR.vxd
on an 0E error is caused primarily by computers running
Windows 9x and a network with tcp/ip running. The
BSOD after cancelled (Press any key) will let you run
normally but you wont be able to access the internet or
any tcp/ip resources. The file you want to run is located
at:For the Windows 98 version:
http://www.mcs.net/~revolutn/win98_vxd_fix.htmFor the Windows 95 version:
http://www.mcs.net/~revolutn/vxdfaq.htmYou need to copy the Windows 95/98 cab files to your
'C:\Windows\Options\Cabs' directory, it's only a dos bat
file!
Fatal exception IFSMGR
Reply:Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article ID: Q137335, In
titled: "Error Message: Invalid VxD Dynamic Link Call
from..." explains why these "blue screens" appear. The url is:

Also, IFSMGR is the Installable File System Manager,
for VFBACKUP Helper Driver for Backup Applications.

I had the exact same problem before. I would get the

file. I think.you should be able to find this file from the net.
what you want to do is go into your
windows/system/vmm32 directory then rename your
current file to ifsmgr.oldthey copy the latest file into the directory.
then reboot.

Big thanks to Jakub, I renamed my version of IFSMGR.VXD to IFSMGR.OLD, went to the following site and copied their version of the IFSMGR.VXD driver to my C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory, rebooted my PC and have'nt had the problem since.

I'm having problems with the Toshiba Protege 3010 system. When the Logon screen for windows 98 appears, the system shuts down.

I had blue screen errors, mostly when running netscape, but once even while deathmatching in DukeNukem.
I tried everything and nothing worked.
Finally, last night, after searching extensively and trying many solutions
(most of which involve a Hewlett Packard
problem) I found a page that said to update
Winsock2.I did it and have gone from having as many as 25 blue screens a day to none so far.
Here's the url:

I hope this helps a lot of people. This problems seems wide spread, but easily fixable once you know what to do.

It's great to see that im not the only person in this huge digital world that gets "the blue screen of deth," not saying im glad to see you suffer.
Tech~help didn't do sqaut, except telling me to download their "New sound drivers" (that might i note stoped our sound from working untill I fixed it myself.)
The thing that helped me is holding ctrl and alt and hitting delete and closing all programs EXCEPT explorer and systray.
If this doesn't help, tell me, i know at least ten other things to do.It Stinks Dosen't it,

Disable any TSR's like virus software
to see if they are responsible.Test SDRAM under windows enviroment, not DOS

Same problem but while running fifa99
I tried all the solutions you guys described in this page but nothing worked.
So if anyone comes up with THE solution, please let me know.
Thanks, eric.

If you are using Win95 and receive this problem, try installing the Windows 95 Winsock/Dial-Up Networking update, obtainable through Microsoft. According to Netscape this is THE solution. Hmmm.
