Fatal OE error in VXD NAVEX(2)

Had problems with a IBM Aptive (AMD K6 350 mhz) running Win98. When trying to open Word in MSOffice ver 4.2 the fatal exception error from VXD NAVEX (2) pops up and I have to kill the power to s/d the comp. Even the reset button fails. I tired to un-install the MS Office with the add/remove utility in win 98 and get the same error. The MS Office setup does the same thing when I try to uninstall or re-install. I traced the VXD NAVEX to Norton Anti-virus and un-installed it first..then un-installed the MS Office. Since I had loaded Office recently, I reversed the procedure and re-installed Office first, then did a re-install on Norton AV. This seems to have cured the problem for now, but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and what they did to solve it! Also some techies out there may have come across this same prob and might have info to help me if this re-occurs. Thanks in advance

I bet Norton is set to scan everything at access or on run and at shutdown which means every time you start a program, insert a floppy or shut down, it'll try to scan. I have McCrappy VirusScan and set it to only scan floppies on access or when they are put in the floppy drive. I'd shut Norton off when you install a program also, just scan it manually first.
