My home pc (Compaq Presario 7478 with Windows 98) freezes up. I get 3 different error messages -- #1: "a fatal exception OD has occurred at 0028:0001BF05 The current application will be terminated" #2: A fatal exception has occurred at 0028:5B5A9F12 and #3: A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:000002OC Each gives the 2 options of "Press any kep to terminate the current application" or "Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart". My system does this randomly. When I select one of the 2 choices, sometimes everything works but usually it just takes me back to the same error screen. I have to turn off the power button to the pc. When I turn it back on, I sometimes get the same error screen and the message that Windows was not shut down properly and ScanDisc starts running. IF I press "X" to cancel ScanDisc, the system may open Windows and go to my desktop and everything runs fine including the Internet. Other times, it goes back to the blue error screen. There is no rhyme nor reason as to when this happens. I can always get the pc to run in Safe Mode. I get the message "fatal exception at 0028:5B5A9F12" if I try to exit safe mode. These error message also come up if I leave the computer on without activity for any length of time -- 30 minutes or more. They happen when I download music or have the screen saver running. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? I'm a beginner at troubleshooting and don't know what to do.
Thanks.
KBoyett

This problem occurs becoz of the Ram if u go ahead replacing the ram memory in the computer will solve the problem.U could also open the computer and clean the dust, sometimes this will solve the problem.
