I've been looking for an EASY and specific way to know what FATAL EXCEPTION OD 00028:00003FOA is. I can't find this SPECIFIC code anywhere. This is a new M/B ASUS A7A266, 850 Mhz TB CPU, 32mb GEFORCE MX2...all drivers are up to date.
The problem occurs 'only' 30% of the time on a reboot or startup. It occurs after the Win 98 logo. I will get a single row of fifth of an inch vertical bars along the top of the screen and then the system will 'lock' until I press any key. That brings up the exception message. Then it does not respond, or it will occasionally say that the system is busy. Everything worked fine at the installation shop. I was around when they were loading in several items, and they must have rebooted 5 or 6 times...no problems.
