Hi, I was upgrading my computer and when I removed the HDD I apparently jarred it too hard, now when I reboot I receive the message "Fatal exception error 6 has occurred at 0000 : 0000 F026 " I am primpted to press a key and the boot up continues, everything seems to work, but how do I fix this? I have run scandisk with Norton Utilities to check for surface errors and it did not show any problems, as well as speed disk and other utilities. I am using win98se and a Quantum 17 GB ultra66 HDD. HELP!!!!! PLEASE.

Mark,

It's possible you may have corrupted a small section of that drive. Wierd that scandisk didn't find a bad sector. You may not have jarred it too hard..it may have been static elcetricity...first rule of thumb...always touch the case before touching components...if that happened, it "MAY" work itself out...but don't count on it. Hate to be bearer of bad news...but it may be time to look for new hard drive....try to save what you can while you can still access it. Good luck....you can always try to put that hard drive in another puter for the ultimate test of its integrity. I feel for ya though.

Pierre
